Tony Evans works for Biffa Waste in Wales and has been able to access WULF (Wales Union Learning Fund) support to further his skills and career opportunities.

He first completed NEBOSH training. NEBOSH National General Certificate is ideal for anybody with health and safety management responsibilities as well as those embarking on a health and safety career and gives you a stepping stone to success. Tony then went on to complete Dangerous Good Safety Advisor training. He identified the courses himself by doing internet searches and then approached the URTU WULF project for support with funding. The courses have given Tony a very good perspective of the industry he is working in. They were not easy to complete, but they were worth the effort. Tony fitted the courses in on evenings and during the weekends, mainly studying in the truck at night. But this is not the end of the learning journey for him – he will definitely do another course soon. Tony said: “There is always time for someone to learn new things, be it a small course or a large course.”
