URTU Learning

Driving forward lifelong learning

The United Road Transport Union (URTU) is the UKs only union dedicated to serving the interests of workers in road haulage, distribution and logistics.  This URTU Project will help to build a skilled workforce through our learner support project.  URTU Learning will develop progressive skills training and learning opportunities for all workers, employees and their communities. Our project covers all regions in England, Scotland and Wales for those who work in logistics, where 2.3 million people now work.

Logistics employers are seeking workers with key employability skills especially from their existing and current workforces and this incorporate ever-greater technical skills and abilities.

The URTU project will target support at those workers who are identified as being the most disadvantaged, and those with poor literacy and numeracy skills, as this may also place workers at considerable disadvantage to progress. Our key project challenge is to help these low-skilled adults break this cycle.

The URTU project will help broker the critical interventions that are needed to ensure a competently trained and sustainable productive workforce. This project will continue to provide access to those quality educational opportunities, as these opportunities are vital to move logistics work up the sector value chain.
