Did you know that most courses available through URTU Learning in Wales can be accessed remotely so that learning can be flexibly planned around your work and personal commitments? Face-to-face and tailored training can also be arranged. Many of the opportunities are informal, bitesize courses accessible from any digital device. It is also possible to enhance employment prospects with formal qualifications.
One of the project beneficiaries has been Leon Parker who is a driver at DHL in Ebbw Vale.
This is what Leon said about his learning journey:
“There are many learning opportunities available for URTU members in Wales.
The short online courses I have completed through the project have been very informative, and it is always nice to be able to add more knowledge and continue learning on the URTU E-Learning platform where you can access hundreds of different courses. I tend to complete them when I return to work slightly early before clocking out. It may be sometimes difficult to fit learning into your busy life, but there are also many bite-size learning opportunities available, some of which I have completed during learning events at work.
I have also completed the ADR course with the help of the project. I found out about it from the URTU learning rep at work. We regularly receive information on learning during work-based events and through our WhatsApp group at work.
Even though I had to take some time off work to complete the ADR training and pay for the exams, the course was of great value as it allowed me to renew my ADR licence. It was a good opportunity to bring my knowledge back up to speed and regain my qualification. The course itself was quite intense, but it was delivered professionally and in a friendly manner by COTS Training. I really did learn a lot and I would recommend the course to anybody who wants to improve their skills and knowledge and add qualifications to their CV.”
