Sam Wood is a shining example of how personal ambition, professional development, and support from colleagues can shape a fulfilling and forward-focused career path. With a strong desire to provide for his family and secure his future, Sam has embraced learning opportunities through the URTU Learning Project, and embarked on a journey towards a transport management qualification.

Sam first learned about the ADR course and the Transport Manager training programme through conversations with his colleagues at Warburtons, particularly one co-worker who regularly encouraged him to think about his long-term goals. He also saw the courses advertised in the URTU newsletter. These opportunities sparked his interest and aligned perfectly with his vision for the future.

“I always look ahead at the future – I want to do my best for my family and achieve as much as I possibly can to secure their future.” – Sam Wood

Before enrolling on the Transport Manager course, Sam had completed the ADR training. The ADR course itself proved to be both enjoyable and enlightening, giving him a strong foundation and igniting his passion for further training.

Through these courses, one of the most impactful changes Sam has noticed is his growth in confidence. He’s now able to apply what he’s learned to real-world scenarios, answer questions more accurately, and even assist colleagues with their own queries.

“I’ve gained many skills – the main one being confidence. I’ve been able to use the knowledge I’ve gained to help colleagues and answer questions correctly.”

Sam is passionate about encouraging others to take advantage of the opportunities available through the URTU Learning Project. He strongly recommends training courses to colleagues, believing they are key to preparing for the future and unlocking new possibilities.

“I will always recommend doing these courses – they help prepare you for the future and give you the knowledge to achieve different things.”
