Events

The URTU Learning Project aims to advise and support all learners in their educational journey to enable them to unlock their full potential. This will be achieved through supplying visitors to this site with information, and links, regarding Free Courses, Apprenticeships and Functional Skills. Events are run by various organisations and charities and are aimed at raising awareness of adult education in workplaces, and their wider communities, on how we use functional skills such as Maths, English and ICT in our everyday life.

We also want to show you the fun side of learning by bringing you information on a range of education events which will run across the country at key times throughout the year.

You may think that learning is all about sitting in classrooms being taught Maths, English or computer skills, or that Maths and English is just not for you. These events are aimed at dispersing these myths by showing you that no matter what your skills levels are, or your age, you can improve on, or learn new skills by taking part in fun actives and hobbies, these activities can involve the whole family.

Listed below are the events and links to their pages, within their pages you will be able to find out details of their events, and how you can get involved.

Festival of Learning – Is a month long event, where workplaces, colleges and universities all get involved to showcase adult education. They run taster sessions, or demonstration workshops, which may include cookery classes, darts tournaments or setting up a book swap.

Get online week – Are celebrating their 10th Birthday this year and are running even more events, the aim of this week is to get as many people online and show them that accessing the internet can be fun, but also can save them time and money.
